A COVID year has gone by.

It is hard to believe that over a year ago everything closed amid the COVID pandemic.

I can’t complain as I’ve had it pretty good, no major losses, still employed, we have been healthy so far, and by now 2 out of three members of my family (me included) are fully vaccinated. I am grateful!

2020 closed on a successful note for me, with several successful holiday shows and the publication of an article about my process in the Ceramics Monthly magazine, super exciting!!

I embraced 2021, ready to tackle some overdue plaster work, with a very ambitious mold production plan for new pieces.
My studio time is limited and fragmented, so I need to plan carefully the days I have, so that I’m not left in the middle of a time sensitive process. There is always a sense of stressful urgency.
Although new designs trigger the need for new molds, the making of such is a long laborious and messy journey, loaded with various and endless calculations and technical demands, to be done in a studio that needs to be transformed and that is often inadequate.
And there are the methodological challenges, and the ongoing problem solving. And the cleaning, oh my god the cleaning!
I took longer than I expected, but the molds were done, new pieces have been made, and will now be selected to be part of various upcoming shows.

Among the many events coming up, I am excited to be part of the Ceramics Casting Series! offered by Sonoma Community Center. This will be a two hour online class on Saturday, April 10, from 10am-12pm PST. I will demo how I make pieces out of different cast elements.

I will be having an update to my online store by the end of April, stay tuned!
